City Information & Services
A Small Town with a Rich History
The City of Colbert was first chartered as Five Forks in 1899 and was renamed Colbert in 1909 in honor of one of the area’s early families. The railroad arrived in 1891, and the historic depot was constructed in 1892. Today, the depot remains one of Colbert’s most recognizable landmarks.
Colbert is also known for its red cannas and its annual Independence Day Celebration, a beloved tradition that began in 1970. Generations of residents, volunteers, civic organizations, and local businesses have helped preserve the welcoming community spirit that defines our city.
