The men of the Colbert Baptist Church prepare a delicious barbeque each year for the July 4th Celebration. The Colbert Volunteer Fire Department plays a vital role in all the planning and events of the day. This celebration has become one of the largest in Northeast Georgia and could not exist without the many volunteers who work tirelessly in giving their time and efforts to this event. |
Former Mayor John Waggoner, who served as City Advisor until his death in 2020, began the Fourth of July Celebration in 1969 when he first became Mayor, together with the Colbert Improvement Club. The Colbert Lion's Club is also very much a part of this event. In 2019, Colbert celebrated its 50th year July 4th with parades and events with record attendance. |
